The Real Checklist for Launching a Compliant Med Spa
Beyond the lease and the laser: the 19 things every founder needs before opening day.
Most founders think launching a med spa is about location, equipment, and marketing. Those matter — but they're the last 20% of the work.
Before you open the doors, you need a corporate name cleared with the Secretary of State, Articles of Incorporation filed, an EIN from the IRS, a DBA on file, bylaws drafted, S-Corp election made, MSA and consulting agreements signed, banking set up with CPOM in mind, and three layers of insurance (general liability, professional liability, EPLI).
You also need a payroll platform, proper employment classification, vetted clinical staff, good faith exam screening, written protocols, an EHR platform, and vendor and pharmacy setup.
That's 19 distinct deliverables — every one of them required, none of them optional. Skip a step and you either can't open, can't get paid, or can't defend yourself in an audit.
This is exactly the onboarding we run for every Wellness MD Group client. Nothing improvised, nothing skipped.
